A law firm located in Wichita is seeking a skilled Appellate Attorney to join their Appellate Department. This position is remote and focuses on writing arguments to appeal administrative decisions related to disability law. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, have a background in Social Security Disability law or appellate work, and require minimal direct management. An active attorney license is required, with preference for licenses in MO, KS, or OK.

Duties:

  • Draft and file persuasive appellate briefs and legal arguments to appeal administrative decisions.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support appeals.
  • Review case records and administrative decisions to identify grounds for appeal.
  • Develop strategic legal arguments and present them effectively in written form.
  • Collaborate with clients and colleagues to gather necessary information and evidence for appeals.
  • Manage multiple appellate cases simultaneously with minimal direct supervision.
  • Stay current with changes in Social Security Disability law and appellate procedures.
  • Provide clear and concise communication with clients regarding the status of their appeals and legal strategies.
  • Review and interpret court rulings and administrative decisions to assess potential appeal opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active attorney license through a State Bar association, preferably in MO, KS, or OK.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in appellate work or Social Security Disability law (preferred).
  • Proven experience writing appeals and presenting legal arguments effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload remotely.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct management.
