A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Insurance Defense Associate Attorney for their Austin and Houston offices.

 

Job Overview:

The Mid-Level Insurance Defense Associate Attorney will primarily represent insurance companies in coverage litigation, with potential involvement in defense litigation. The role requires experience in diverse types of insurance coverage, superior research, writing, and communication skills, along with practical case management experience, preferably in federal court.

 

Duties:

  • Represent insurance companies in coverage litigation, with potential involvement in defense litigation.
  • Handle diverse types of insurance coverage, including excess and surplus lines, general liability, construction defect, D&O, environmental, and personal and advertising injury claims in Texas.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Take and defend depositions and attend court appearances.
  • Utilize practical case management skills, preferably in federal court.
  • Utilize arbitration and trial experience when applicable.

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of litigation experience.
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas; license in Louisiana is a plus.
  • Superior research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with general defense litigation is advantageous.
  • Practical case management experience in federal court is preferred.
  • Ability to draft pleadings, discovery, and motions; take and defend depositions; and attend court appearances.
  • Arbitration and trial experience is beneficial.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in Texas; license in Louisiana is a plus.

 

Skills:

  • Superior research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with general defense litigation.
  • Practical case management experience, preferably in federal court.
  • Ability to draft legal documents, take and defend depositions, and attend court appearances.
  • Arbitration and trial experience.
