Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an ambitious and motivated Associate Attorney to join its Insurance Recovery, Counseling & Litigation team. The firm’s nationwide insurance coverage practice helps policyholder clients resolve complex insurance coverage disputes, maximize recoveries, and secure carrier participation in claims defense and settlement. This role will involve working on a wide variety of insurance coverage issues, including general liability, cyber, property, professional, pollution, and more. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with experience in handling insurance coverage matters.

Location:

• Rochester, New York

Duties:

• Represent policyholders in insurance coverage matters, including reviewing insurance policies, handling claims, and litigating coverage disputes.
• Draft contractual indemnity and insurance provisions.
• Provide advice on general liability, excess/umbrella, professional, cyber, property, and other insurance coverage issues.
• Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and other parties regarding claims and disputes.
• Work collaboratively within a team while managing individual caseloads.
• Perform legal research, draft documents, and attend hearings as necessary.

Requirements:

• 1 to 5 years of experience in insurance coverage law.
• Experience representing policyholders in insurance coverage matters is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with insurance policies and coverage issues.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and handle complex insurance matters.
• A New York State bar license is required.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be admitted to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

• Experience handling insurance coverage disputes.
• Proficient in drafting insurance provisions and indemnity clauses.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with construction insurance coverage and corporate transactional work is a plus.
