Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Attorney to manage and oversee all aspects of personal injury cases from inception to resolution. The role involves working with a team of professionals remotely, while also handling cases with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in personal injury litigation, particularly in motor vehicle accidents, and the ability to lead and collaborate effectively within the firm.

Duties:

  • Manage personal injury cases, ensuring they progress from the initial claim through to the closure of the case.
  • Negotiate settlements during the pre-litigation phase to reach favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Review insurance policies, claims, and related documents to assess the validity and potential of each case.
  • Draft legal documents, motions, and arguments for court presentations.
  • Maintain a docket of cases, ensuring compliance with office policies and deadlines.
  • Oversee the discovery process, including reviewing medical records and other case-related documentation.
  • Supervise legal staff such as paralegals and case managers, ensuring effective case management.
  • Track and ensure all cases are managed by applicable Statutes of Limitations.
  • Travel for case-related matters, as needed (infrequent).

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience handling personal injury cases, with a focus on motor vehicle accidents.
  • Extensive experience in all phases of litigation, from pre-litigation through trial.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active legal license to practice in the state of Indiana; additional licensing in Illinois is a plus.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and legal writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a heavy caseload efficiently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active legal license in the state of Indiana (Illinois license is preferred).

Skills:

  • Expertise in personal injury law, especially motor vehicle accidents.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Excellent legal writing and research abilities.
  • Proficient in managing a team of legal support staff.
  • Ability to assess case deadlines and ensure timely case progress.
