A law firm is seeking a dedicated and skilled Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join their team in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will represent injured plaintiff-employees in North Carolina Workers’ Compensation cases at various levels, including the Deputy Commissioner, Full Commission, and North Carolina Court of Appeals. The role involves providing comprehensive legal advice, handling all phases of workers' compensation cases, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for clients.

Duties:

  • Represent injured plaintiff-employees in their North Carolina Workers’ Compensation cases.
  • Provide legal advice and representation throughout all stages of workers’ compensation cases, including pre- and post-litigation phases, discovery, settlement negotiations, and beyond.
  • Assist clients in obtaining benefits under the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act.
  • Litigate cases before the Deputy Commissioner, Full Commission, and North Carolina Court of Appeals.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests, orders, and motions.
  • Negotiate settlement terms, language of agreements, releases, and job resignations on behalf of clients.
  • Prepare and draft briefs for presentation at the Deputy Commissioner and Full Commission levels of the North Carolina Industrial Commission and the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in North Carolina.
  • 1-3 years of experience practicing as an attorney, with a preference for experience in plaintiff’s Workers’ Compensation.
  • Experience using Litify software is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office and aptitude for learning and using various software programs.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
