Senior Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in San Jose, CA is seeking an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join their team. Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, both for detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Advise and strategize with clients on immigration-related matters.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including but not limited to removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and supporting documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Develop case strategies, and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis and strategic recommendations for clients to determine case benefits.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters.
  • Manage a full caseload efficiently while ensuring high-quality representation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of managing and advancing legal cases effectively.
  • Experience working with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian applications, EOIR, detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Fluency in English; bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the United States.

Certifications:

  • Bar membership in the relevant jurisdiction (California preferred).

Skills:

  • Expertise in Immigration Law and policy.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent client management and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with legal software and case management tools.
