Job Overview

An esteemed U.S.-based law firm is seeking a mid to senior-level associate attorney to join its nationally recognized Energy, Infrastructure, and Project Finance practice. This position presents an exciting opportunity to represent high-profile clients in the renewable energy sector, including utilities, independent power producers, municipalities, and financial institutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising on project development, acquisitions, and financing, while managing direct client relationships and contributing to complex, industry-shaping transactions.

Duties

  • Advise clients on the development, acquisition, and financing of renewable energy projects

  • Represent sponsors and financing parties in complex energy-related transactions

  • Draft and negotiate various project and operational agreements, including:

    • EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) Contracts

    • Supply Agreements

    • Offtake Agreements

    • O&M (Operations & Maintenance) Agreements

  • Draft and negotiate financing-related documents including:

    • Tax equity agreements

    • Debt financing agreements

    • M&A-related contracts

  • Collaborate with clients, internal legal teams, and third-party advisors across all deal stages

  • Provide strategic legal guidance and assume responsibility for managing matters from start to finish

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of legal experience in the energy industry

  • Background with a nationally recognized law firm or equivalent in-house counsel role

  • Experience working on renewable energy projects, including development, M&A, or finance

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, complex matters independently and efficiently

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited, top-tier law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the bar in the state of residence

  • Good standing with the applicable state bar authority

Skills

  • Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and research capabilities

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Capable of working independently while collaborating in a team environment

  • Comfortable with direct client interaction and external advisor engagement
