A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its team in Scottsdale, AZ. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience and be comfortable handling cases from start to finish, including taking depositions, attending hearings, and negotiating settlements. Duties

  • Defend clients in insurance defense cases, including bodily injury and first-party/bad faith claims
  • Manage civil litigation cases from start to finish, including drafting motions, discovery, and other legal documents
  • Take depositions and represent clients in oral arguments and hearings
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing parties
  • Provide regular updates and reports to clients on case progress
  • Work independently and collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals to develop case strategies
  • Attend court hearings and trials as required
  • Maintain case files and ensure compliance with all legal standards and deadlines
  • Contribute to business development and the firm’s marketing efforts

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience in insurance defense, with a focus on bodily injury and first-party/bad-faith claims
  • Strong litigation experience, including motion practice, depositions, and court appearances
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to managing cases
  • Must be licensed to practice law in Arizona (additional state licensure is a plus)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative legal team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven negotiation and client relationship management skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active Arizona State Bar license (additional state bar licenses are a plus)

  • Expertise in civil litigation, particularly in insurance defense and bad faith claims
  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills
  • Proficiency in handling cases from inception to trial
