A law firm seeks a patent prosecution associate with 3-8 years of experience to join its Electrical & Computer Technologies practice in New York. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on groundbreaking innovations in both Electrical & Computer Technologies and Biotechnology. The associate will be responsible for managing the patent process from start to finish while working closely with clients and inventors to advance cutting-edge technology.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with clients and inventors throughout all stages of the patent process.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications in the United States and internationally.
  • Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement analyses.
  • Assist with additional patent-related responsibilities or projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of patent prosecution experience, ideally within Electrical & Computer Technologies.
  • Proven track record of managing patent portfolios and navigating complex patent processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Experience in collaborating with clients and technical teams.

Education:

  • A degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Admission to or eligibility for admission in New York.

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and legal concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Expertise in patent law and knowledge of technologies related to machine learning, molecular biology, sequencing technology, and more.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
