Duties:

  • Represent clients in real estate litigation matters, focusing on construction-related issues.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Manage the discovery process, including preparing and responding to discovery requests.
  • Provide counsel and strategic advice to clients on litigation and settlement matters.
  • Participate in depositions, arbitrations, and trials, including preparation and presentation of evidence.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain regular client contact and ensure high levels of client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the California State Bar is required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in construction matters, including legal research, drafting, and discovery.
  • Experience with judicial clerkships, internships, or similar roles is preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials with a commitment to providing excellent client service.
  • Excellent judgment and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • California State Bar admission is required.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
  • Ability to handle a varied caseload and work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain client relationships.

The San Francisco office of this mid-sized firm is engaged primarily in litigation and general business, although the firm boasts a solid regulatory and administrative law practice and a respectable labor/employment practice. The firm has a strong pro bono commitment; associates receive full billable hour credit for approved pro bono work, and overall, pro bono comprises 3-5% of all work. The billable hour target is 1850.
