Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is looking for an experienced Patent Counsel with a strong background in electrical engineering and patent prosecution to join its team. The successful candidate will focus on a wide range of technologies including 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, image processing, and RF systems. Duties:

  • Manage patent prosecution activities, including drafting, filing, and defending patents.
  • Provide counsel on intellectual property strategy and portfolio management to clients.
  • Analyze and assess the patentability of inventions, ensuring compliance with patent laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and protect innovative technologies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technological developments.
  • Assist in patent litigation matters as needed.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure the protection of their intellectual property rights.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering (or an equivalent technical discipline).
  • Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or eligible to register.
  • Admission to a state bar and in good standing, or eligible for bar waiver.
  • In-depth knowledge of 5G, Wi-Fi, wireless technologies, AI, processor/memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end systems.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration required or the ability to qualify for USPTO registration.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and develop IP portfolios.
  • Familiarity with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or AI fields is preferred.
