Duties

  • Evaluate incoming workers' compensation cases and create detailed action plans and budgets for each matter.
  • Review and determine the necessary pleading requirements, delegating tasks to legal assistants and paralegals as needed.
  • Draft discovery responses and oversee the production of documents to ensure compliance with all deadlines.
  • Attend depositions, hearings, and other legal proceedings, providing comprehensive reports on developments.
  • Negotiate settlements, obtain approval for settlement agreements, and assist in preparing cases for trial when necessary.
  • Foster consistent communication with paralegals, legal assistants, and other team members to ensure smooth case management.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of experience in workers' compensation law or a related legal field.
  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing with the state bar.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases efficiently while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and colleagues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a willingness to learn case management and other legal software.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications
