A law firm seeks a highly skilled associate with 3-6 years of experience to join its established Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) Finance practice. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with expertise in finance law, particularly in real estate capital markets and securitization. Duties:

  • Lead and manage a variety of finance transactions, focusing on commercial real estate, securities, and capital markets.
  • Oversee commercial real estate lending and securitization transactions, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on modifications, workouts, and servicing transactions within the real estate finance space.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex transactional documents, including loan agreements, securities filings, and related contracts.
  • Advise clients on the full spectrum of commercial real estate finance, ensuring their business objectives are met.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored legal solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the firm to address client needs and complex legal challenges.
  • Stay informed about market trends and legal developments to ensure up-to-date advice for clients.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-6 years of experience in finance, with a strong focus on real estate finance, capital markets, and securitization.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling commercial real estate lending, modifications, workouts, and other servicing-related transactions.
  • Strong ability to draft and negotiate complex legal documents.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to think strategically and offer business-oriented solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines simultaneously.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the bar of North Carolina, or the willingness to apply for bar admission in North Carolina.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina (or in the process of obtaining licensure).

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial real estate finance, capital markets, and securitization law.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating financial and transactional documents.
  • Strong understanding of the commercial real estate lending process, including modifications and servicing transactions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
