Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for its Workers' Compensation practice group. The successful candidate will have strong writing, research, and litigation skills, with the opportunity to handle a wide range of workers' compensation claims. Location:

• New York City, NY

Duties:

• Review and analyze workers' compensation claims.
• Conduct extensive legal research and draft client correspondence, discovery documents, summations, appeals, and appellate briefs.
• Represent clients at depositions and hearings before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board.
• Assist with trial preparation and attend trials.
• Retain and evaluate expert witnesses as necessary.
• Meet the annual billable hour requirement of 1950 hours.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a practicing attorney.
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admitted to practice in the state of New York (additional state bar admissions a plus, but not required).
• Superior analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
• Strong work ethic and ability to self-manage while working effectively in a team.
• Prompt response to email and phone inquiries.
• Excellent client interaction and telephone etiquette.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to the New York State Bar (additional states are a plus, but not required).

Skills:

• Legal research and analysis.
• Strong drafting and communication skills.
• Client representation and litigation experience.
• Expertise in workers’ compensation law is a plus.
• Ability to manage a caseload effectively and meet deadlines.
