Job Overview: A law firm specializing in intellectual property law is seeking a highly skilled Patent Lawyer to join their team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent prosecution, particularly in 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end technologies. They must possess excellent academic credentials, exceptional analytical abilities, and superior verbal and written communication skills. An Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent is preferred. Additionally, candidates must be registered with the USPTO or eligible to register and admitted to and in good standing with the Bar or eligible to waive in.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution activities in various technical fields, including 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end technologies.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications, responses to office actions, and other legal documents related to patent matters.
  • Conduct patentability, infringement, and validity analyses.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel on intellectual property matters to clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, inventors, and internal teams to identify patentable inventions and develop patent strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Extensive experience in patent prosecution related to 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor and memory systems, image processing, and RF front-end technologies.
  • Strong academic credentials with a focus on Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Registration with the United States Patent Trademark Office (USPTO) or registration eligibility.
  • Admission to and good standing with the Bar, or eligibility to waive in.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Registration with the United States Patent Trademark Office (USPTO).
