A law firm in San Jose, CA, is seeking an Advice and Counsel, Of Counsel Attorney with over 9 years of relevant experience. The role involves providing strategic advice and counsel to clients on a wide range of employment law matters, including audits, incentive compensation, policy drafting, and complex legal issues.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting audits of employer practices, including wage and hour policies and procedures.
  • Drafting and revising incentive compensation documents, such as commission and bonus plans.
  • Drafting and revising policies, handbooks, and other employee communication documents to ensure clarity and compliance with legal standards.
  • Simplifying complex employment law issues for diverse audiences.
  • Analyzing various problem-solving options and presenting pros and cons to clients.
  • Providing practical and legal solutions that align with client needs and objectives.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
  • 9+ years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local workplace and employment laws.
  • Understanding of current agency enforcement techniques at the state and federal levels is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience conducting trainings or workplace investigations preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical advice.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for legal documents and communications.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.

Education and Certifications:
