Job Overview: A well-established law firm in the Mid-Atlantic region is seeking an experienced lateral attorney to join its growing team. The firm is looking for an attorney with a portable client base to handle a variety of practice areas including government representation, business law, and litigation defense. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to contribute to a dynamic, client-focused environment while maintaining a strong work-life balance.

Duties:

• Manage and represent clients in multiple practice areas, including Local Government Law, Public Finance, Commercial Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Labor & Employment, Cybersecurity & Data Privacy, Business Litigation, Complex Litigation Defense, White Collar Criminal Defense, and Construction Litigation.
• Develop and maintain a portable client base, with a focus on originating new business and expanding relationships with existing clients.
• Provide high-quality legal counsel and strategic solutions to clients in both advisory and litigation matters.
• Collaborate with internal teams and participate in the firm’s efforts to maintain a strong professional community.
• Work in a hybrid schedule, balancing office presence with flexibility for remote work.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Virginia and/or North Carolina.
• A proven entrepreneurial drive and the desire to build a client base.
• A portable book of business or demonstrated ability to originate business, with an annual revenue of $200,000 or more.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in Virginia and/or North Carolina.

Skills:

• Strong legal knowledge across various areas of law including government, business, and litigation.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a proven ability to generate and maintain business.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
