Position Title: Immigration Attorney

Job Overview

A respected law firm in Bakersfield, CA, seeks a dedicated Associate Immigration Attorney. This role offers significant growth potential and the opportunity to work alongside an accomplished legal team. The attorney will handle client cases independently, report to a Senior Associate Attorney, and play a vital role in client interactions and case strategy within a collaborative legal environment.

Duties

• Explain immigration concepts and present effective strategies to clients.
• Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Manage a diverse caseload of immigration cases.
• Conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
• Prepare and review immigration applications, focusing on removal defense and family-based petitions.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law changes.
• Conduct strategic consultations with prospective clients to outline case direction.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
• Provide comprehensive legal analysis to explore all case benefits.
• Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

• 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
• Strong team player with a collaborative approach to legal work.
• Proficiency in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven track record in advancing legal cases and managing caseloads.
• Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
• Familiarity with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in the United States.
