A law firm in Houston is seeking a skilled Tax Lawyer with 2-6 years of experience at a law firm, specializing in public finance and/or nonprofit health care tax matters. The ideal candidate will possess strong academic credentials and a demonstrated track record of handling complex tax issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and counsel on a variety of tax-related issues, with a focus on public finance and nonprofit health care sectors.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support clients in compliance matters, tax planning, and transactional tax issues.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including tax opinions, agreements, and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Represent clients in tax audits, administrative proceedings, and litigation matters as needed.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals within the firm to deliver comprehensive legal solutions to clients.

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission by waiver.
  • 2-6 years of relevant experience practicing tax law at a reputable law firm.
  • Experience with public finance and/or nonprofit health care tax matters preferred.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LLM in Taxation or related field.
  • Prior experience advising nonprofit organizations or public entities.
  • Experience advising clients on tax-exempt financing transactions.
