Job Overview:
A well-established Matrimonial and Family Law Firm is seeking a dedicated Family Law Attorney to join its team in Garden City, NY. This position is ideal for an attorney with 0 to 3 years of experience who is licensed to practice in New York and eager to develop expertise in divorce, custody, visitation, property disputes, and support matters. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys, gain hands-on litigation experience, and build strong client relationships in a fast-paced legal environment.

Location:

  • Melville, NY

Duties:

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, settlement conferences, and mediations under senior attorney guidance.

  • Provide legal counsel on matters related to divorce, custody, visitation, property disputes, and support.

  • Draft legal documents, including complaints, motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements.

  • Negotiate settlements and conduct client consultations.

  • Prepare discovery requests and responses, and analyze case documents.

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda.

  • Assist in preparation for depositions, hearings, and trials.

  • Attend court mediations, conferences, and hearings as required.

  • Ensure compliance with firm billing and reporting requirements.

  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, opposing counsel, and supervising attorneys.

Requirements:

  • 0 to 3 years of experience in family law or related legal fields.

  • Active license to practice law in New York.

  • Strong legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities efficiently.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced legal setting.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Caret Legal (preferred).
