Job Overview:
A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Associate Attorney to join their growing team. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing cases, communicating with clients, developing legal strategies, and assisting with the preparation of legal documents. Location:

Duties:

  • Maintain a target of 35 billable hours per month.
  • Assist the supervising attorney with various tasks, including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
  • Attend and participate in hearings, mediations, and arbitrations as required.
  • Stay informed about client matters and maintain communication with clients to build and nurture relationships.
  • Prepare for and participate in strategy meetings, being well-versed in case facts, procedural status, upcoming hearings, and trial details.
  • Continuously evaluate case progress and adjust strategies to best serve clients.
  • Stay updated on legal developments and fulfill continuing legal education requirements.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in law practice.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of Texas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar legal software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and delegate when necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Certifications:

  • Active Texas State Bar license.

Skills:

  • Legal research and writing.
  • Client communication and relationship-building.
  • Legal document preparation, including pleadings and motions.
  • Case management and strategy development.
