Job Overview:

A law firm specializing in real estate law seeks a motivated Real Estate Associate Attorney to join their Boston office. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction contracting and development, focusing on transactional and litigation support.

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate design, construction, and development agreements across various industry sectors.
  • Negotiate EPC contracts for extensive infrastructure and energy projects.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on claims management, change orders, extra work claims, delay, and construction defect claims.
  • Assist with litigation and arbitration matters related to construction disputes, including drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, and preparing for depositions, mediations, and hearings.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables, answer inquiries promptly, and handle correspondence efficiently.
  • Meet deadlines and perform duties in compliance with firm policies and practices.
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activities as necessary for the role, including computer work, virtual meetings, and conference calls.

Requirements:

  • JD degree and admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction contracting and related development.
  • Experience providing transactional and litigation support in construction and development matters.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard form agreements (e.g., AIA forms).
  • Preferably, prior experience with construction litigation or arbitration.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Demonstrated research, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Ability to influence others and effectively manage relationships.
  • Persuasive communication skills and good business judgment.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
