A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced attorney to join its Social Security Disability practice in New York, NY. This role involves managing a substantial caseload, representing clients in Social Security Disability claims, and advocating on behalf of individuals navigating complex legal and administrative processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong ethical foundation, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to securing just outcomes for clients.

Duties

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of Social Security Disability claims.
  • Represent clients in hearings, delivering opening and closing arguments, and conducting direct and cross-examinations.
  • File appeals and ensure all applications and documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Communicate with the Social Security Administration on behalf of clients.
  • Collect, review, and organize medical records and other supporting documents.
  • Travel within New York City boroughs (primarily Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens) as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Social Security Disability law.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to empathize with clients facing challenging circumstances.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), and case management tools.
  • Multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, or Creole) are a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active New York State Bar License (preferred).
