Patent Agent - Electrical Engineering & Software

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group, focusing on Electrical Engineering & Software. This position provides the opportunity to work on complex intellectual property matters, specializing in patent prosecution and litigation in the high-tech fields of electrical engineering, computer science, and software.

Location:

• Greenville, SC

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the areas of electrical engineering, software, and computer science.
• Handle patent litigation matters, providing strategic advice and representation.
• Guide clients on intellectual property strategy, portfolio development, and protection.
• Conduct patentability, infringement, and validity analyses.
• Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address various IP issues.

Requirements:

• IP experience with patent prosecution and litigation.
• Background in electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical field.
• Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
• Preference for experience with networking, software, and wireless technologies (3G/4G/5G).
• Associate and Patent Agent candidates must be admitted to the USPTO with 2-6 years of relevant experience.
• All candidates must be a member of the USPTO.

Education:

• Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field).

Certifications:

• USPTO registration required for all candidates.
