Family Law Attorney

Job Overview:
A growing law firm with offices in Maryland, DC, Virginia, and Florida is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Family Law Attorney to join the team. This role involves representing clients in family law cases, including custody and divorce, and working closely with the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) department to manage both family law and immigration law components of client cases. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, self-starter, and team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume legal practice.

Location:

• Silver Spring, Maryland

Duties:

• Represent clients in family law matters, including custody and divorce cases.
• Maintain a steady schedule of hearings, court appearances, and conferences.
• Attend SIJS hearings throughout Maryland.
• Manage legal issues involving family members, including mediation and legal counsel.
• Provide expert legal advice and interpretation of family law statutes and case law.
• Work closely with the SIJS department to ensure seamless handling of both immigration and family law aspects of cases.
• Regularly update clients on case progress.
• Prepare and file all required legal documents.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in Virginia.
• 1-2 years of experience handling Maryland custody and divorce cases.
• Knowledge of Maryland family law statutes, procedures, and case law.
• Three years of related legal experience preferred.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Virginia Bar License.
