Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking a mid-level to senior associate attorney with 3 to 5 years of experience to join its Financial Services Regulatory practice. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on a range of consumer financial laws and regulations, particularly those related to non-mortgage credit. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team while providing comprehensive legal analysis and compliance advice to clients in various financial sectors.

Duties:

  • Advise on federal consumer financial laws related to non-mortgage credit, including EFTA, FCRA, FDCPA, GLBA, MLA, SCRA, TILA, and UDAAP.
  • Provide guidance on state regulatory frameworks, including licensing, usury, and disclosures for non-mortgage consumer and small business credit.
  • Draft and review legal documents for diverse audiences such as in-house counsel, client business teams, and regulators.
  • Assist with consumer and small business financial program development, including licensing, compliance policies, and borrower-facing documentation.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and provide transactional assistance on financing agreements and risk factors for securitizations.
  • Engage with asset classes like general-purpose unsecured consumer loans, credit cards, retail financing, equipment financing, and non-mortgage loan servicing.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in financial services regulatory practice, focusing on consumer financial laws and regulations.
  • Strong legal writing and drafting skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to various stakeholders.
  • Experience working on asset classes such as consumer loans, credit cards, small business financing, and loan servicing.
  • Ability to work independently and provide detailed regulatory analysis and advice.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD), with a graduation date between 2018 and 2021.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state consumer financial laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
