Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a talented and driven junior-level associate to join their Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation practice. This role offers the opportunity for hands-on, first-chair experience in complex commercial disputes, bankruptcy matters, and distressed debt cases. The associate will work on real estate, land title disputes, and consumer financial services litigation, with exposure to both state and federal court proceedings. Location:

  • Stamford, Connecticut

Duties:

  • Handle commercial litigation cases, including distressed debt, real estate disputes, and complex consumer financial services litigation.
  • Provide legal support in bankruptcy matters (bankruptcy experience is a plus).
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents for litigation.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies.
  • Manage case discovery, including e-discovery, depositions, and document review.
  • Appear in court, argue motions, and take part in trials.
  • Take and defend depositions, manage pretrial preparations, and assist in case development.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop litigation strategies and case management.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in commercial litigation or bankruptcy law.
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar required. Dual New York Bar admission is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong academic background and excellent writing skills.
  • Experience in distressed debt, real estate litigation, or consumer financial services preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Eagerness to take on responsibility and handle high-profile cases.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar is required.
  • Dual admission to the New York Bar is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Experience in depositions, court appearances, and motion practice.
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy law and consumer financial services litigation is a plus.
  • Ability to manage complex litigation and multitask efficiently.
