A law firm in Dallas is seeking a Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney with a strong background in patent preparation and prosecution, specifically in electrical engineering or computer science. The ideal candidate should possess solid law firm experience, industry knowledge, and exceptional communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in patent prosecution related to electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities, particularly in the areas of electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies, machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.
  • Collaborate with clients and inventors to understand and evaluate inventions for patentability.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Perform legal research and analysis related to intellectual property matters.
  • Provide support in patent litigation and enforcement efforts.

 

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • JD and admission to the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) are required.
  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Solid law firm experience.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Patent prosecution experience in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
  • Experience in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the USPTO.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the USPTO.

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and inventors.
  • Knowledge of patent preparation and prosecution processes.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering, computer science, and related technologies.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
