A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a highly skilled Labor and Employment Career Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience defending employers in single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases, as well as ERISA litigation. This position requires occasional in-office presence for meetings, depositions, and court appearances. The successful candidate will have an excellent academic background, proven experience in employment litigation, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Duties:

  • Defend employers in employment-related litigation, including single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases.
  • Manage ERISA litigation and provide expert legal counsel on related employment matters.
  • Prepare and draft a variety of legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to support case strategies and arguments.
  • Represent clients in depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
  • Develop and execute effective case strategies in collaboration with clients.
  • Handle a diverse caseload efficiently, ensuring adherence to deadlines and court procedures.
  • Remain informed about developments in labor and employment law and related regulations.

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of experience in employment litigation matters.
  • Proven track record in defending employers in employment actions before agencies and courts.
  • Strong academic background with a comprehensive understanding of labor and employment law.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage complex cases and meet deadlines.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of California or eligibility to obtain admission.

Skills:

  • Expertise in employment law, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and ERISA litigation.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting thorough legal research.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and manage a varied caseload effectively.
