Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an attorney with 2-5 years of experience to join its expanding Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Practice Group in Chicago. The ideal candidate will focus on energy regulatory and renewable energy work, with experience in state regulatory proceedings, including rate cases, investigations, rulemakings, and retail energy compliance. Familiarity with solar incentive programs, power purchase agreements, community solar contracting, and retail energy supply contracts is highly desirable. Location:

  • Chicago, Illinois

Duties:

  • Represent clients in energy regulatory matters, including traditional and non-traditional rate cases, investigations, and rulemakings.
  • Advise on retail energy approvals, compliance, and related energy regulations.
  • Assist with renewable energy projects, including power purchase agreements, solar incentive programs, and community solar contracts.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts and regulatory filings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to energy and environmental law.
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals in managing cases and projects.
  • Provide client service, including advising clients on regulatory compliance and energy-related issues.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in energy, environmental, or natural resources law.
  • Experience in state regulatory proceedings, including rate cases, investigations, and rulemakings.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy, including solar programs, power purchase agreements, and retail energy supply contracts.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong client service and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar (Illinois preferred, but not required).

Skills:

  • Expertise in energy regulatory matters, including compliance and regulatory filings.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy and energy-related agreements.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and client management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
