Patent Agent needed for Boston office

Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking a highly skilled Patent Agent or experienced Technical Advisor with extensive patent prosecution experience to join its Life Sciences Patent Counseling and Prosecution Group. This role involves representing pharmaceutical and life sciences companies in patent drafting, prosecution, due diligence, and patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Location:

• Boston, MA

Duties:

• Draft patent applications

• Manage domestic and international patent portfolios

• Prepare responses to Office Actions

• Communicate effectively with foreign associates

• Develop and implement search strategies

• Analyze patents in connection with due diligence or freedom-to-operate assessments

• Evaluate patentable subject matter

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience

• Advanced degree in Organic Chemistry (PhD preferred)

• Registered patent agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

• Prior experience in a law firm setting

• Strong scientific background with practical experience in the life sciences industry

Education:

• Advanced degree in Organic Chemistry, preferably a PhD

Certifications:

• USPTO Registration
