Job Overview

A law firm seeks a skilled and passionate EOIR Immigration Attorney to join its legal team in Dallas, TX. This role presents a unique opportunity to advocate for individuals in removal proceedings, providing dedicated legal representation and strategic case management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in immigration law, a strong ability to handle complex cases, and a commitment to protecting the rights of clients navigating the immigration system.

Duties

  • Represent detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, USCIS, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and submit defensive immigration applications, including I-589, 42A, 42B, I-485, SIJS, and prosecutorial discretion requests.
  • Oversee and review USCIS filings such as I-130 petitions, I-601A waivers, and U-Visa applications.
  • Conduct client consultations to assess case strategies and provide legal counsel.
  • Supervise and collaborate with paralegals to ensure the timely and effective handling of cases.
  • Draft and file legal memoranda, motions, and briefs for various immigration matters.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, specifically in EOIR matters.
  • Strong team player with a willingness to collaborate, strategize, and mentor colleagues.
  • Proficiency in handling Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, Citizenship applications, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, and other USCIS filings.
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage caseloads effectively and drive cases toward resolution.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active law license in good standing with any U.S. jurisdiction.

Certifications

  • Must be a licensed attorney and in good standing with the relevant state bar.

Skills

  • Strong advocacy and litigation skills, particularly in immigration court settings.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Effective organizational and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also leading and mentoring legal support staff.
