A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a White Collar and Government Investigations Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the Committee on Foreign Investments (CFIUS), U.S. export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A general understanding of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred. Candidates must be admitted and actively barred in New York.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and support on matters related to CFIUS, U.S. export controls, and ITAR.
  • Manage and oversee regulatory compliance and enforcement issues in international trade.
  • Prepare, review, and file regulatory submissions, compliance documents, and legal materials.
  • Conduct internal investigations and coordinate responses to governmental inquiries and enforcement actions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement compliance programs and strategies.
  • Stay current with changes in trade regulations, enforcement policies, and industry trends.
  • Act as a primary client contact, offering timely, strategic, and practical legal guidance.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership and good standing with the New York State Bar.
  • 2-4 years of experience in handling international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.
  • Demonstrated experience with CFIUS, U.S. export controls, and ITAR regulations.
  • General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.
  • Proven experience supporting a legal team in complex regulatory and compliance matters.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, including CFIUS, export controls, and ITAR.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in managing complex cases and compliance issues.
  • Experience in white collar crime and government investigations.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
