A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly qualified Renewables Attorney to join their team. This role involves providing legal counsel on a wide range of renewables projects, with a focus on facilities operations and power purchase agreements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge in the renewable energy sector, including expertise in wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell facilities, as well as smart grid, energy storage, and energy efficiency. The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to client service, effective interpersonal collaboration, and clear communication. A JD degree from an accredited law school, active Bar membership, and a portable book of business are required.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and support for various renewable energy projects, emphasizing facilities operations and power purchase agreements.
  • Counsel clients on legal matters related to the development, financing, and operational aspects of wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell facilities.
  • Assist clients with issues related to smart grid technologies, energy storage solutions, and energy efficiency and demand-side management.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review complex contracts and agreements related to renewable energy projects.
  • Manage legal aspects of projects from inception through completion, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with clients, industry experts, and internal teams to achieve project goals and address legal challenges.
  • Maintain and expand a portable book of business to contribute to the firm's growth and client acquisition.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging issues in the renewable energy sector.
  • Demonstrate a high level of commitment to client service, effective communication, and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the Bar in Washington, DC or willingness to obtain.
  • 10+ years of experience in renewable energy law, with a focus on facilities operations and power purchase agreements.
  • In-depth knowledge of wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell facilities.
  • Familiarity with smart grid technologies, energy storage solutions, and energy efficiency and demand-side management is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and provide strategic legal counsel.
  • A portable book of business is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Bar of Washington, DC or willingness to obtain.
