Job Title: Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm in San Jose, CA, seeks an experienced and motivated Immigration Associate Attorney. This role provides an excellent opportunity for professionals to gain hands-on experience and grow within a supportive, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload while working closely with an experienced immigration team. You will represent clients in various immigration proceedings and contribute to legal strategies that directly impact individuals' futures.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at correctional centers.
  • Prepare, review, and submit immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and other USCIS filings.
  • Develop case strategies and advise clients on immigration options and potential outcomes.
  • Engage with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law updates.
  • Provide legal analysis and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and regulatory requirements for immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Strong track record of advancing cases and managing a caseload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with detained and non-detained individuals in immigration proceedings.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Proficiency in immigration case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in good standing.

Certifications:

  • Bar Admission in any U.S. jurisdiction (preferably California).

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and research abilities.
  • Knowledge of immigration law and regulations, including family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, removal defense, and other USCIS applications.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized with the ability to manage multiple cases.
  • Excellent client relations skills and a passion for providing high-quality legal service.
