A law firm in Joplin, MO, is seeking an Associate Attorney to handle court appearances, litigation preparation, and client communications. The ideal candidate will be licensed in Missouri and Kansas, with additional licensure in other states welcomed.

 

Duties:

  • Prepare, appear timely, and handle court appearances within reasonable travel distance.
  • Review and request coverage for court calls when unable to appear, including necessary document attachments and order requests.
  • Draft, review, and file motions during litigation.
  • Prepare for trials/arbitrations, potentially requiring overnight stays in distant counties.
  • Communicate with consumers, their employers, and their attorneys to resolve accounts/suits.
  • Comfortable appearing in court consistently and on time using personal transportation.
  • Manage a high volume case load with multitasking skills.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office for case management and communication tasks.

 

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri and Kansas.
  • Additional licensure in other states (IA, NE, ID, CA, WA, OR, AK, HI, NV) welcomed.
  • Ability to appear in court on time consistently with personal transportation.
  • Strong multitasking skills for managing a high volume case load.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active licensure in the State of Missouri and Kansas.
