Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid Work)

Job Overview:
A reputable litigation defense law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an Associate Attorney with at least one year of litigation experience. Ideal candidates will have additional experience in areas such as negligence, premises liability, transportation, construction, insurance coverage, product liability, or medical negligence. The firm offers a collaborative and supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth, training, and mentoring. The role requires a combination of remote and in-office work, including attendance at court hearings, site inspections, depositions, trials, and other in-person events.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in various litigation matters, including but not limited to negligence, premises liability, and insurance disputes
  • Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case development
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, trials, and other legal proceedings
  • Participate in site inspections, meetings, and internal training sessions
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop case strategies
  • Manage case files and ensure all deadlines are met
  • Provide timely and transparent communication to clients regarding case progress

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of litigation experience and ideally at least 2-3 years of litigation experience
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois
  • Ability to attend in-office meetings, hearings, and other events in Chicago, IL
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Professional and client-focused demeanor

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active Illinois State Bar license

Skills:

  • Litigation experience in areas such as negligence, premises liability, or medical negligence
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Proficient in legal writing and document preparation
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple cases and deadlines
  • Experience with trial preparation and court proceedings
  • Familiarity with legal technology and case management software
