Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a highly qualified I.P. - Patent Agent/Technical Advisor with specialized knowledge in fields related to immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, or gene therapy. This role requires exceptional academic credentials and superior communication skills.

Job Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.
  • Conduct technical research and analysis in the relevant scientific fields.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to attorneys and clients.
  • Draft and review patent-related documents, including applications, office action responses, and legal opinions.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their technology and provide strategic patent advice.
  • Stay updated on developments in the relevant scientific and patent fields.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Support business development activities by identifying potential patenting opportunities.

Requirements:

  • PhD (or MD with research experience) in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, gene therapy, or a related field.
  • Post-doctoral experience (desirable).
  • USPTO registration number (desirable).
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • PhD or MD with research experience in the relevant fields.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration number (desirable).

Skills:

  • Strong technical research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to draft and review complex patent-related documents.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interactions and presentations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
