Job Overview

An established family law firm based in Southern California is seeking a skilled and motivated Associate Attorney with at least two years of experience in family law. This role involves managing cases from intake through final resolution, including both contested and uncontested matters. Duties

  • Handle all aspects of family law matters, including:

    • Divorce

    • Custody and visitation

    • Support (child and spousal)

    • Domestic violence restraining orders

    • Property division

  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and trials

  • Prepare legal documents including pleadings, declarations, discovery, MSC/trial briefs, and settlement agreements

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda

  • Maintain effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and internal staff

  • Supervise or collaborate with paralegals and legal assistants as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in family law litigation

  • Proficiency in handling cases from initial consultation through trial or settlement

  • Strong courtroom presence and confidence presenting before judges

  • Familiarity with Judicial Council Forms, local court rules, and California family law statutes

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the California State Bar

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and legal software (e.g., Tabs3 Billing, XSpouse)

  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities

  • Strong drafting skills for declarations, trial briefs, and discovery responses

  • Ability to work independently and manage a full caseload with minimal supervision

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with sensitive family matters empathetically and professionally
