Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Miami, FL, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Associate Immigration Attorney to join its team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated attorney to gain further experience and grow within an established firm. The selected candidate will work closely with senior attorneys and legal assistants, manage a caseload, and engage in client interaction while contributing to the firm’s immigration practice.

Location:

  • Miami, FL

Duties:

  • Explain immigration laws and concepts, offering strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload, ensuring efficient case progression.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and packets.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Provide strategic consultations to potential clients to assess their legal needs.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for testimony in court or before USCIS.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients regarding potential case benefits.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for diverse immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of Florida (or ability to gain admission).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop strategic solutions.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
