A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney with 2+ years of civil litigation experience to join its Houston office. The position involves managing a diverse caseload, working closely with senior attorneys on cases related to personal injury, product liability, medical, premises liability, and property damage litigation. The associate will be responsible for handling various aspects of litigation, including discovery, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation, while receiving support and mentorship from a supervising shareholder.

Duties:

  • Manage a variety of civil litigation cases from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with supervising attorneys on case strategy and execution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Develop and respond to discovery requests and formulate a discovery plan.
  • Participate in and conduct depositions, mediations, and court hearings.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive client reports and updates.
  • Assist in trial preparation and actively participate in trials when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil personal injury and property litigation.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively and work collaboratively with senior attorneys.
  • Strong legal writing and research skills.
  • Experience in developing litigation strategies and executing case plans.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interactions and court appearances.
  • Proven ability to handle depositions, hearings, and mediations independently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
