A law firm is seeking a highly motivated Product Liability and Mass Torts Associate Attorney to join its dynamic trial teams. This role will involve working on significant individual, multidistrict, mass tort, and class action lawsuits for product manufacturers across various industries. The successful candidate will contribute to high-profile cases in some of the most challenging legal jurisdictions, playing a key role in trial preparation and litigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.
  • Engage in legal research, drafting pleadings, and writing briefs on complex product liability and mass tort issues.
  • Handle discovery processes, including document review, depositions, and interrogatories.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop legal strategies for defending corporate clients.
  • Participate in multidistrict litigation (MDL) and class action cases, with opportunities to manage key aspects of complex litigation.
  • Attend and represent clients in hearings, mediations, depositions, and trial as needed.
  • Analyze technical documents and expert reports, providing legal insights for case strategy.
  • Develop client relationships by keeping them informed of case progress, strategy, and risks.
  • Stay current on relevant legal developments in product liability and mass tort litigation.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in product liability or mass torts.
  • Experience working at a large law firm or a civil litigation boutique with exposure to high-stakes litigation.
  • Proven ability to handle discovery, draft legal documents, and assist with trial preparation.
  • Outstanding written and oral advocacy skills, with a strong ability to communicate legal arguments effectively.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Local Bar admission in Washington, D.C., required.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, D.C.

  • Litigation Expertise: Strong background in managing complex litigation, including discovery and motion practice.
  • Research and Writing: Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills, with a focus on persuasive legal argumentation.
