A law firm in Parkersburg, WV specializing in family law litigation seeks an experienced Family Law Litigation Associate Attorney to represent clients in various legal proceedings, including hearings, mediations, trials, and appeals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, legal expertise, and a commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for clients.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in hearings, mediations, trials, and appeals
  • Direct and supervise the work of support staff
  • Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgments, and orders
  • Prepare equitable distribution charts and divide marital assets, including real estate
  • Conduct monthly file review meetings
  • Monitor retainer balances and communicate replenishment needs to the billing specialist
  • Communicate with clients to understand their goals and develop corresponding legal strategies
  • Advocate on behalf of clients by analyzing situations and forming effective strategies
  • Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to move through the civil litigation process
  • Represent clients in court proceedings as needed

 

Requirements:

  • Must have a license to practice law in either West Virginia or Ohio; willingness to obtain the other state licensure upon employment
  • Prior family law experience preferred
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Juris Doctor Degree

 

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage a high volume of cases effectively

 

Education:

Juris Doctor Degree

 

Certifications:

License to practice law in West Virginia or Ohio
