A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Financial Services Transactional Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will support the financial services transactional practice, focusing on representing banks, fintechs, merchants, and payment processors in various transactions. Experience with strategic partnerships in payments and lending, including drafting and negotiating agreements, is essential for this role.

 

Duties:

  • Manage components of financial services transactions independently under attorney supervision.
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements in the payments and lending space, such as BaaS agreements, co-brand credit card agreements, merchant acquiring agreements, data aggregation agreements, network incentive agreements, and BIN sponsorship agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to financial services regulations and transactional matters.
  • Provide legal advice and support to clients on regulatory compliance and transactional issues.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop strategic solutions and facilitate transactions.
  • Assist with due diligence reviews and transactional documentation preparation.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in financial services transactions at a law firm or corporate environment.
  • Admission to the state Bar where practicing is required (Washington, DC Bar preferred).
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of financial services transactions and regulatory matters.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the state where practicing (Washington, DC Bar preferred).

 

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for transactional agreements.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
