Associate Attorney - Civil Litigation Defense

A law firm seeks a dedicated Associate Attorney with experience in civil litigation defense to join its Pasadena office. This role is ideal for an attorney passionate about trial work and advocacy, offering significant courtroom exposure and the opportunity to represent a variety of clients, including corporations and municipalities, in high-stakes cases.

Duties:

• Manage a caseload focused on civil litigation defense from inception through resolution.
• Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, and other court filings, ensuring all legal documentation is thorough and accurate.
• Conduct depositions, examine evidence, and develop case strategies to advocate effectively for clients.
• Negotiate settlements when advantageous to clients, while also preparing cases for trial when necessary.
• Represent clients in court, delivering arguments and evidence to support their position.
• Engage in regular communication with clients to update them on case developments and legal strategies.
• Work collaboratively with the litigation team to enhance trial strategies and outcomes.

Requirements:

• Licensed attorney with experience in civil litigation defense.
• Ability to manage cases independently, including all aspects of case preparation, settlement discussions, and trial.
• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.
• Proven track record of building client rapport and providing clear, empathetic communication.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid environment with both in-office and remote work as needed.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in the state of California.
