Job Overview

A law firm seeks a passionate and experienced Immigration Attorney to join its team in the Portland, Oregon, metropolitan area. This role focuses on providing consultation and legal representation in family and business immigration matters. The ideal candidate is an engaging communicator, comfortable conducting consultations with clients via video calls and working on case management in person at the Portland office. The attorney will work on various immigration issues, supporting both individuals and business clients.

Duties

  • Conduct video and phone consultations with prospective clients, assess eligibility for immigration benefits, and offer tailored legal solutions
  • Represent clients in family-based immigration cases, including adjustment of status, waivers, immigrant visa petitions, and fiancé visas
  • Assist clients with naturalization, asylum, VAWA petitions, and immigration matters
  • Prepare and manage business immigration petitions, including immigrant (EB-1, EB-2) and nonimmigrant (H-1B, L-1, E-2) visas
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients via email and phone, providing updates and case management
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support in-house training efforts

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state, with preference for Oregon
  • Minimum of two years of experience in immigration law (family or business immigration focus)
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A positive and proactive attitude in handling multiple cases and deadlines
  • Fluency in a second language is advantageous

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active bar license in good standing

Skills

  • Expertise in family and business immigration law
  • Proficient in client communication, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills for case management
  • Ability to conduct consultations and legal analysis swiftly and accurately
  • Language skills beyond English are considered a plus
