A law firm in New York City is seeking a Mid-Level Energy Transition Projects Associate Attorney to handle drafting and negotiating various infrastructure contracts within the energy transition sector, including CCUS, hydrogen, and renewable fuels. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience, a strong background in infrastructure or related contract law, and exceptional academic and professional credentials.

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate a broad range of infrastructure contracts, including offtake, supply, procurement, operating, and construction agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and support on projects related to energy transition technologies such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), hydrogen, and renewable fuels.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to develop and implement contract strategies and manage risks associated with energy transition projects.
  • Review and analyze complex contractual documents and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support project teams by addressing legal issues and facilitating contract negotiations to achieve project goals.
  • Stay current with developments in energy transition laws and regulations to provide informed legal guidance.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys and other legal professionals to advance project objectives and resolve contractual disputes.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with stellar academic credentials.
  • 2-5 years of experience in drafting and negotiating infrastructure contracts, preferably within the energy transition sector or related areas of law.
  • Experience in one or more of the contracting categories relevant to this role (offtake, supply, procurement, operating, and construction agreements) is encouraged.
  • Major law firm experience is required.
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the energy transition sector (CCUS, hydrogen, renewable fuels) is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex legal issues.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school with strong academic performance.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in New York.
