A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced EOIR Immigration Attorney to manage a diverse caseload and interact directly with clients. The attorney will report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and collaborate with the firm’s Immigration Team of Attorneys and legal assistants. This role involves representing individuals in removal proceedings, preparing immigration applications, and providing legal strategy and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.
  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Develop strategy and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.
  • Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at immigration centers.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and determine necessary strategy.
  • Manage a workload of cases efficiently and effectively.
  • Use Case Management Software to track and manage case progress.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in California.
  • 1-5 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS applications.
  • Proven record of moving legal cases forward and managing a caseload.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of immigration law, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to explain complex immigration concepts clearly and provide strategic legal solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Preferably bilingual in Spanish.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
