Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Attorney to manage real estate and mortgage-related litigation matters in Texas, with a flexible, primarily remote work arrangement based near the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. This role involves representing clients in complex civil litigation matters, including real estate, title, foreclosure, and creditor's rights, through proactive case management and strategic legal planning.

Duties:

  • Manage and lead litigation cases from initial stages through resolution.
  • Handle pre-litigation matters, including title clearance on real property.
  • Develop case budgets and strategic legal approaches, obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Conduct thorough legal research, assess risks, and devise litigation strategies.
  • Draft and argue motions and pleadings effectively.
  • Manage discovery processes, including depositions and evidence preparation.
  • Develop case strategies with supervising partners and maintain clear client communication.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other legal proceedings, including both remote and in-person appearances.
  • Assist in bankruptcy-related motions, hearings, and adversary proceedings when necessary.
  • Participate in special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas (additional licenses in other states are a plus).
  • A minimum of 5 years of litigation experience is preferred, though entry-level candidates with a strong interest in real estate and mortgage law will be considered.
  • Knowledge of foreclosure, real estate transactions, secured transactions, and creditor’s rights is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with software tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general internet navigation.
  • Must meet an annual billing requirement of 1,920 hours.
  • Must reside in Texas or be willing to travel for in-person hearings in Texas as needed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active and current Texas Bar membership (Required).
  • Compliance with ongoing MCLE requirements.
