Attorney needed for Tampa office

Job Overview:

A law firm in Tampa, FL is seeking an experienced Attorney to join their team. This role involves representing a diverse range of clients in various legal matters, including premises liability, auto/trucking liability, and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general liability defense and possess a license to practice in Florida.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist a diverse range of clients, including employers, carriers, third-party administrators, and self-insureds, in the defense of various claims such as premises liability, auto/trucking liability, general liability, insurance defense, construction defect, medical malpractice, nursing home and other senior care defense, first-party property, first-party auto, commercial litigation, employment litigation, and/or workers’ compensation.
• Review and prepare summaries of medical records to advocate effectively for clients.
• Draft motions, attend hearings, and represent clients in court.
• Prepare clients for depositions and attend depositions as needed.
• Draft initial reports, interim reports, pre-trial reports, and handle trial and appellate activities.
• Respond to discovery requests and draft discovery-related motions.
• Regularly attend court appearances to secure the best outcomes for clients.
• Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in the State of Florida.
• 1-5 years of experience specializing in defending against all types of General Liability claims, including premises liability, auto/trucking liability, general liability, insurance defense, construction defect, medical malpractice, nursing home and other senior care defense, first-party property, first-party auto, commercial litigation, employment litigation, and/or workers’ compensation defense.
• A portable book of business is a plus.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex legal issues.
• Strong research abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in the State of Florida.

Skills:

• Proficiency in drafting and responding to discovery-related motions.
• Experience in drafting motions for summary judgments.
• Ability to take and defend depositions of fact witnesses and expert witnesses.
• Capability to regularly attend court appearances and represent clients effectively.
